""Menzies scores a consolation try against Salford""

Oh dear. Bradford Bulls' season appears to be in terminal decline after a run of nine consecutive defeats which has seen the side drop from fourth in Super League to tenth and hastened the departure of head coach Steve McNamara.

Four games against Castleford, Hull, Harlequins and Salford seemed just the tonic in late June after injuries and poor form had threatened to derail the club's play-off ambitions, but defeat in each of these games has left the team's chances of finishing in the top eight hanging by a thread with five games of the regular season remaining.

A trip to fellow West Yorkshire side Castleford on June 27th began promisingly when Elliott Whitehead touched down inside seven minutes, but Castleford responded in fine style, with Michael Shenton claiming a hat-trick to help the Tigers edge the encounter 28-22.

High-flying Hull visited Odsal on July 4th and adopted the roles of matadors as they danced around the Bulls in the first half.An inspirational display by Danny Tickle saw the black and whites take an 18-point lead into the break and elicited boos from the Bradford faithful, but the home side hit back in the second half to level the game. However, they could not manage to find a way to win the match and Jordan Tansey's 67th-minute break and offload to Hall was just enough to seal an away win for Hull and condemn Bulls to their second 28-22 defeat in the space of a week.
