""Finigan continues to show promise""

Bradford Bulls finally managed to end their record run of defeats with a win against Wakefield on August 22nd but it was far too late to boost their hopes of reaching the Super League play-offs.

July ended with a heavy defeat at Hull KR in which the Bulls demonstrated their attacking strengths but their defence was exposed on far too many occasions, with Peter Fox running the show for the home side and grabbing a hat-trick.Though the Bulls crossed the Hull line through efforts from Reardon, Kopczak and L'Estrange and two from the highly promising Vinny Finigan, KR were the stronger outfit by far and ran out comfortable 49-24 winners.

Hopes of a return to winning ways were dashed by Catalans Dragons on August 1st as the visitors edge a narrow contest at the Grattan Stadium. The Odsal faithful were confident of a victory at home against Super League's bottom side but the Dragons turned in a gutsy performance despite the absence of head coach Kevin Walters from the sidelines.Just one goal separated the teams at the end of the day as Catalans emerged with a 24-22 triumph.

Not for the first time in Super League, Bradford suffered a drubbing at Knowsley Road the following week, which could almost have been expected considering the game took place on Friday the 13th.
