The Kings Head...by Laura Casey
“Traditional pub food done well,” is the claim of the Kings Head new owners, Amanda and David Peet. And so, when we turned up on a Friday evening for a meal I was expecting something hearty. The menu is indeed traditional offering pub classics such as Sausage & Mash and Lasagne. I opted for Homemade Pate and Chutney followed by a board special, Haddock in a Spinach and Cheddar sauce. My husband went for Breaded Brie with Cumberland Sauce and his staple favourite, Gammon Steak.
The place is freshly done out and feels clean and cosy. I’m not a smoker but as I made way across the room I could see a great canopied decking area outside where people were congregating. I also noticed high chairs in the corner, so it is obviously family friendly.
